PACKETEER "magic" takes the INTROP Show in Las Vegas!

A magician drew them into the booth, but it was the sheer magic of PacketShaper that kept them hanging on! Traffic jams along the Internet access lines are now a thing of the past. The PacketShaper magical box sits on the corporate LAN and regulates traffic to make sure that everyone gets a fair share of the bandwidth. Magically, PacketShaper lets net managers view traffic stats, and allocates access bandwidth to specific user groups, applications, or IP addresses.

Why PacketShaper?

Because PacketShaper times the inbound and outbound traffic on a company’s Internet access line, it provides smooth flow of information quickly, stepping in to modify the ACK field whenever the data stream bogs down. To fix this problem, PacketShaper is positioned behind the access router, managing 10 megabit Ethernet traffic in real time, allocating appropriate bandwidth to traffic defined by incoming connection speed, URL, application type, or IP address.

PacketShaper is deployed between the corporate firewall and the company’s Internet access router, where it keeps tabs on the inbound and outbound packets zipping across the wire (see the figure).

More specifically, Packetshaper peers into each packet as it passes by, checking the acknowledgement control field in each TCP/IP header--without adding any overhead! PacketShaper is the solution in Internet traffic management for predictable and consistent delivery of information to your most important customers. PacketShaper delivers quality of service and total traffic control--like magic!
